Arranging lessons
Bookings are confirmed by The Speaking Academy after the learner's needs, programme, format, time and payment arrangements have been agreed. Please provide the learner's name, age, country, email or WeChat contact, preferred course, current English level, learning goal and preferred lesson time.
Regular teaching hours are Monday to Sunday, 08:00 - 22:00 China Standard Time (UTC +8). Availability is subject to confirmation. Lesson lengths include 45, 60 and 90-minute intensive sessions, depending on the programme.
Cancellation & refunds
Changes to a confirmed lesson
- Give at least 24 hours' notice to reschedule a lesson in full.
- With less than 24 hours' notice, the lesson may be forfeited except in an emergency.
- A no-show is counted as a completed lesson.
- Package lessons must be used within the period agreed when the package is booked.
- Refunds for unused package lessons are subject to the agreed package terms and the value of lessons already used.
Payment policy
Payment and package confirmation
Payment can be arranged by card, WeChat Pay, Alipay, PayPal, bank transfer, Wise or another suitable international payment service. The method, currency conversion, timing and any transfer charges are confirmed before payment. A booking or lesson package is secured once the agreed payment has been received.
Payment instructions are issued privately after the programme, schedule and amount have been confirmed. The website does not request or store card, bank or payment-account credentials.
Privacy & data protection
How personal information is used
Personal information is collected only when needed to respond to an enquiry, arrange and deliver lessons, coordinate payment, communicate with a learner or parent, monitor progress, or meet legal and safeguarding responsibilities. This may include contact details, age, location, learning goals, lesson records, work submitted and progress notes.
Information is kept confidential, protected with reasonable safeguards and retained only for as long as it is needed for the purpose collected or required by law. It is not sold. It may be shared only with a service provider needed to deliver the agreed service, with consent, or where disclosure is legally required.

Recording consent
Confidential educational use only
Lesson audio, video or screen recordings are only made after specific permission has been given. Consent allows recordings to be used for education, quality assurance or progress monitoring. Recordings remain confidential and are not made public or used promotionally without separate additional consent. A parent or legal guardian must provide consent for a learner under 18.
Recording consent is optional and may be withdrawn for future recordings by contacting The Speaking Academy.
Testimonial & image consent
Separate permission for public use
A student's name, photograph, video, testimonial, results or story will only be used on the website or in promotional material after written permission has been provided for that purpose. A parent or legal guardian must give permission for a minor. Permission can define whether a full name, first name, initials or anonymous wording may be used.
Student code of conduct
A safe and productive classroom
- Join on time, prepared with the agreed materials and working equipment.
- Communicate respectfully and participate honestly in learning activities and assessment.
- Protect the privacy of the teacher and other learners; do not share classroom links, materials or recordings without permission.
- Use appropriate language and behaviour. Harassment, discrimination, intimidation and unsafe conduct are not accepted.
- Parents or guardians remain responsible for suitable supervision and online safety for minors.
Terms of service
Learning services and responsibilities
Courses, lesson plans and feedback are educational services tailored to the learner's goals. Results depend on attendance, participation, practice and other factors; no specific examination score, admission, employment or other outcome can be guaranteed. Teaching materials remain the intellectual property of their respective owner and are supplied for the learner's personal educational use.
Programme scope, schedule, fees and any organisation-specific training terms are confirmed before delivery. These policies may be updated as services and legal requirements develop. Material changes affecting an existing booking will be communicated where appropriate.
